Tower Cancer Research Foundation Medical Director and Keck School of Medicine alumnus Peter Rosen received the organization’s Healing Award at the May 18 Tower of Hope Dinner.
A 1966 graduate of the Keck School, Rosen completed Fellowships in Oncology at the National Cancer Institute and the Keck School’s division of hematology. He served two years on the USC faculty before entering private practice and later returning to academic medicine at USC as acting chief of medical oncology and professor of clinical medicine.
He later served as professor of clinical medicine and director of the Solid Tumor Division at UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. He focuses his research on lymphoma, prostate cancer and sarcoma. He directed numerous clinical trials, published many scientific papers in medical journals, and contributed chapters to textbooks in hematology and oncology. Rosen is a co-founder of the educational program, Southern California Lymphoma Group, and this year will chair portions of the 10th International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma in Lugano, Switzerland.
The Los Angeles-based foundation is dedicated to finding more effective treatments, and an eventual cure, for cancer.
